How permits work in the new Town of San Tan Valley
After voters approved incorporation in 2025, the Town of San Tan Valley officially began operating on July 1, 2026, the largest incorporation in Arizona history. The town adopted its first zoning ordinance and town code ahead of that launch.
During the transition, projects need zoning clearance from the Town and a building permit from Pinal County. That arrangement runs through December 31, 2026, so the process may change in 2027. We track the current requirements for every San Tan Valley project we build.
